Australian C19th Vict. Magistrate/Official’s Desk Cast Brass Royal Coat of ArmsThis is a beautifully cast rendition of the Royal Coat of arms with the unicorn, lion and shield surmounted by a crown and lion. It is a pattern used in the mid to late 19th century featuring the “heart” shaped top of a Queen’s crown. A King’s crown has a dome top. The cast brass insignia is mounted in a wooden plinth made from what appears to be a piece of red gum or similar indigenous Australian timber. It would have sat would have sat on an Australian magistrates bench or an Australian administrating official’s desk.These arms are used by the Queen in her official capacity as monarch of the United Kingdom. Variants of the Royal Arms are used by other members of the British royal family; and by the British Government in connection with the administration and government of the country.It is excellent condition with no faults or damage to report some light polishing wear and a lovely patina. At the back of the timber plinth some wax filling to cover the natural imperfection of the grain – not considered to be a fault or damage. Description
