Stunning 1860-70\'s Victorian Micro Beaded Purse Floral Basket Handbag
Rare design. Double sided.Genuine period piece. This is a most unusual and most gorgeous antique handbag.Fully beaded design using thousands of tiny glass micro beads in a diamond design basket with multiple flowers and greenery. The metal frame that may have a maker\'s mark is covered with fabric, beads.Elegant smooth tear-drop handle attachments.
Measures 11-3/4\" in length.It\'s 8-1/8\" wide at the widest point, and 6-1/4\" across at the opening.Purse opens flat to 7-1/4\" x 6\".
Original puckered satin lining is fully intact and in very good condition.Lining inside goes all the way to the bottom.Features an original 2-1/2\" beveled mirror mounted on puckered satin and attached to the inside of the bag. Mirror is showing it\'s age, but it\'s not cracked or chipped.Small pouch sewn in opposite the mirror.Features the original ribbon handle, which does have a few beds stitched onto it and indicates it\'s the original. The ribbon needs a repair. It\'s all there, just needs stitching?I called the lining fabric \'satin\', but I\'m not sure that\'s accurate. It has a kind of ribbed finish, is very soft and has a durability feel. I\'ve seen this material on other mid 1800\'s items, but don\'t know what it\'s called.
No holes in the lining.Very little disruption in the bead work. It\'s not 100% perfect, it\'s apparent that it\'s been well taken care of.Please look closely at the photos to make your own determination of condition and beauty.It\'s a rare and amazing piece of Victorian elegance. An exquisite example for the serious collector.
