C.1960s Signed Friedle Brutalist Butterfly Or Moth Copper Wall Sculpture - Cool:
All The Facts:As-Titled (Vintage "Mid-Century Brutalist"; c.1960s); Up for your consideration is this large and authentically hallmarked FRIEDLE BROTHERS "American Brutalist" ornamental "wall-mounted" sculpture; With this Multi-Dimensional piece executed entirely in hand-soldered Copper, and in an unusual "Butterfly" or "Spotted Moth" design motif, which is a deviation from their standard "Sunburst Designs" of the early 1950s. As photographed above, this sculpture's "L-Shaped" structural bar supports a "layered" clustering of 11 "Butterflies" or "Spotted Moths" anchored to straight-bars soldered to the aforementioned support, and give the viewer an appearance of a "Flock-in-Flight". I'm unsure what the Copper was treated with in order to obtain the unique finish to the wings of these "Butterflies" or "Spotted Moths", but I'm guessing either Acid or something Acid Based. Truly a unique and attention-grabbing piece, with TWO separate and authentic scripted "Friedle" signature stickers adhered to the lower wings of TWO "Butterflies" or "Spotted Moths" as photographed above.
Overall Measurements: This unusual "Friedle Brothers" ornamental "wall-mounted" sculpture measures 26.25" at Widest Width, is 26.5" at longest length, and 5 & 1/8ths-of-an-Inch at Deepest Depth; Unboxed & Unwrapped, this incredibly lightweight "Butterfly" or "Spotted Moth" American Brutalist Sculpture weighs less than 1lb.
Condition: "Very Good" to "Excellent"; Yes, this original "Friedle Brothers" American Brutalist ornamental Wall-Mounted sculpture remains in its patinated and "Found Estate" condition as we have NOT attempted to clean or polish this piece. Aside from commonplace oxidation commensurate with ornamental Copper display, I can't find anything wrong with this "Friedle Brothers" sculpture, although in all fairness and mentioned for 100% accuracy, SOME of these "Butterflies'" or "Spotted Moths'" wings display a wee-bit more "bending" and "wrinkling" then I'm sure was initially intended at the studio (Although you would have to hunt down a "Friedle Expert" to be certain!).SUPERB Personal Indulgence or AWESOME & Memorable Gift!
