Padraig Pearse Handwritten 1916 Letter Easter Rising Ira Irish Museum Quality:
Your opportunity to own an original handwritten Padraig Pearse 2 page letter, dated January 13, 1916 while at St Edna’s, penned in his own hand just months before the Easter Rising and his execution. This is truly an amazing piece of history. The letter is 2 pages (one sheet, front and back). I had the letter taken to the premier gallery where I am located in Cleveland, Ohio (The Bonfoey Gallery) where the letter was professionally duplicated for display purposes and framed using the highest quality materials. The left side is the duplicated front and the right side is the back of the actual letter where it is signed in Gaelic and English. It was easiest for display this way so you can see both sides of the letter framed without doing a 2 sided frame. Guaranteed authentic, I have sent high resolution scans to Whyte’s of Dublin where they wanted to put this piece in their 100th anniversary of the Rising sale. I did not want to pay the high commission fee and deal with an international sale so I kept it. This letter was recently found in Eamonn O’Dwyer’s personal scrapbook / diary that he penned while imprisoned in the 1910’s and 20’s. Eamonn was a lieutenant in the IRB and had a lengthy testimony in the 1950’s during Ireland’s commission on the Rising which can be found online. I also am selling a letter by Countess Markievicz which was also found in the diary which is also listed here on .
