This is a recreation, by the original inker, the late Dan Adkins, of the first story featuring The Iron Maiden in issue #1 of Wallace \"Wally\" Woods\' Thunder Agents. This is incredibly faithful to the original as is shown by comparing the actual art to the original published page (pictures 1 and 2). The original splash page art would cost several thousand, if it still exists and ever came on sale.
I bought this from Bill Pearson, Wally Wood\'s executor and the then agent for Dan Adkins. Dan wrote the following on the reverse:
\"This was the first story I penciled for Wally Wood. I did it from his breakdowns. I inked about half a day on it as well. It was the last story in the first issue of Thunder Agents. This re-creation is pencil and inked by Dan Adkins. 2009. (Including the Lettering) 100 lb Strathmore Bristol\"
This commentary is shown on the third picture above.
The art is approximately 11\" by 16\" on Strathmore Bristol Board. The board is white, any yellow is an artifact of the scanner.
Unless stated otherwise, every piece I sell is the original done by hand.
