Click image to enlargeDescription This box is made from sterling silver in cylindrical form. The slightly domed pull-off lid is decorated with an Engine-Turned design around a vacant circular cartouche and the interior is richly gilded. It is hallmarked to the base for Birmingham 1917 with the maker’s mark of William Hutton & Sons. This is a good-sized box and would be perfect for snuff or trinkets.
This piece is in good condition and the lid closes nice and securely. However, after 102 years, there are some things to bring to your attention. Around the edge of the lid, there are 3 noticeable dents (areas of flattening) of about 1cm in length. To the body, there is a small, light bruise and a dint and there are a 3 bruises to the base. There is some light wear to the decorative detail on the lid (especially near the centre) due to polishing over the years. The interior gilding is nice and rich with no wear. Please be aware that there will be some tiny surface abrasions caused through handling over the years. All aspects are shown in the photos below and reflected in the asking price for what is still a beautiful and functional antique box.

Cheques or Postal Orders are accepted from UK buyers subject to clearance of funds which normally takes about 5 working days after receipt. I endeavour to ship items within 2 working days of cleared payment. All packages are sent by Royal Mail Signed-For service and have adequate insurance built in to the postage cost. I do not make any profit on postage/insurance costs and don?t charge for packaging. To ensure items are safe in transit, I package them very well and, unfortunately, this does increase mailing costs somewhat. All packages must be signed for upon receipt. Failure to do so or collect a package will result in it being returned to me and the buyer will be responsible for the cost of re-sending the item. Any Import Duties, Taxes and other charges due on International purchases are the sole responsibility of the buyer. Should you wish to return an item, please contact me as soon as possible after receiving it. To qualify for a refund, Items must be returned to the seller within 14 days of the date of receipt. Return postage must be by the same, secure method as that originally used to dispatch the item to the buyer which will normally be a Signed-For Mail Service with adequate compensation included. Once I have safely received the item and checked that it is unused and in the same condition as it was when it was originally dispatched, the relevant refund will be made to the buyer's Paypal account.About Us
